Accuracy matters more than preserving the original version of a story. We review credible error reports and correct substantiated mistakes.

How to report an error
Send the article URL, the disputed statement, an explanation of the issue and, where possible, a credible supporting source. The same address can be used to report a broken link or incorrect image.
How we assess a request
- review the original sources and relevant new information
- distinguish a factual error from a difference of opinion or later development
- request supporting material where a specialist issue requires it
- update the article when the request is substantiated
How a correction appears
Minor language or formatting changes may be made without a separate note. A significant factual correction will include a clear explanation in the article. Technical article metadata also reflects the date of the latest update.
What is not a correction
Disagreement with editorial judgment is not by itself a factual error. Information emerging after publication may warrant an update or a new article depending on its significance.
